Workshop.MOV’s Live Performance class (not available for You.MOV private lessons) gives students the opportunity to experience some of the specificities they would encounter when dancing next to an artist onstage. Most dancers have performed live for big audiences through competitions, recitals, or showcases, but being part of a professional live show alongside a singer is a totally different ballgame. It’s fun to embrace challenges like mirroring formations to frame the star, projecting your energy to reach fans all the way at the back of a stadium, seamlessly orchestrating mic and costume changes, and so much more. All of our teachers agree that performing live on the world’s largest stages have been some of the most magical moments of their careers, and they cannot wait to share a small piece of that feeling with .MOV students. In this class, our staff members will share anecdotal stories and lessons from their time in performances such as tours, festivals, and award shows, as well as act as an artist stand-in for the students to practice performing around a singer.
