Partnering

Dancing with a friend for fun or a performance is already one of the most joyful activities in the world, but it is also one of the skills that will set dancers apart the fastest. The limits of what a body can athletically achieve and the shapes it can make are expanded tenfold when you add another person into the mix, so it’s an incredibly useful skill to learn when you want to push your creativity and increase your impact on the audience. Partnering is something choreographers often ask of dancers so that they can create a more touching and dynamic piece, but it can be tricky to anticipate or read another person’s movements if a dancer isn’t trained in this style. We aim to create a space where our students feel safe to explore this often new and daunting style under close supervision and clear direction.
